Welcome to our website. If you have good, solid child care experience and references we would love to help you find a suitable position in Marin County. For over 35 years Rent-a-Parent has been dedicated to helping both nannies and families find that “right match”.

We offer permanent (long term) nanny placement or temp (on-calling babysitting). There is no fee to work with us. Our temp service can offer you fill-in work around your school or work schedule. Our permanent nanny service can place you either part time or full time with one family. You negotiate your salary with the family and we assist you with all steps of the hiring process.​​
Nanny Placement
Nannies are unique with varied characteristics and personalities. Most are female but some are male. A nanny’s workplace is in a family’s private home and her job is providing one-on-one attention and best possible care for the family’s children. A nanny tends to have special child care skills and a deep love and understanding of children. A nanny offers the family convenient, high quality care to meet each child’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs.

Temp Services
Rent-a-Parent’s Temp, On-Call Babysitting Services provides an in home babysitter for daytime, evenings, weekends, and overnights. These positions can be for one time only or on-going. We carefully match a sitter to the family needs depending on the children’s ages and the requirements of the position. We also follow up with the families for their feedback – this enables us to track their favorite sitters. Families can request the same person for multiple times and we will always attempt to satisfy their request.

Screening Process
Rent-a-Parent Services screens carefully to select excellent candidates for their temp, on-call babysitters, nannies and family assistants. We individually meet and screen candidates for particular situations. The on-line services (care.com; sittercity.com) only provide a listing of candidates that have not been interviewed or screened. We are a full service agency providing personal attention throughout the whole hiring process.

Mom who works from home needs a nurturing nanny for her infant daughter every Friday 7:30am-5:30pm. Help with baby laundry, making baby food, washing dishes/bottles are the only household tasks required. Candidate should be a good communicator, know the stages of development, engage the baby in enrichment activities, have experience with parents who work from home, like dogs, and follow a no screen policy. Spanish speaking candidate a plus.​

Busy family with 2 active boys (8 & 10) looking for a reliable, proactive family assistant M-F. Candidates must be organized, energetic, with primary responsibilities revolving around support for the kids, including: picking up kids from school, taking to activities, helping with homework/school projects, preparing kid lunch and snacks, kids laundry, and generally managing after school routines. Occasional support is needed for grocery shopping, some family errands, and, if able, dog walks and dinner prep. Candidates must be dog friendly.
Base schedule is M/T/Th/F: 1:30-6:00, W: 11:30-6:00 and 1 flexible date night to make it 30 hrs. a week. ***Car Provided*** -

Busy parents need a combination of household help, driving, and childcare Tues & Thurs 12:00-5:00. Duties include laundry, keeping the kitchen, kids' rooms, living room tidy, quick dog walks, afternoon snack and dinner prep. Household help when the children are in school from 12:00-2:30/driving & childcare 2:30-5:00. Candidate must be organized, have a safe car, like dogs, work well independently.

Full Time Nanny/Family Asst | Mill Valley

Two working parents need a nanny for their 3 year old Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 with an occasional date night added in once a month. Driving to/from preschool 3 days a week (own car) is required. Tasks include keeping the kitchen and living areas tidy, child’s laundry, picking up groceries and dry cleaning once a week, kid’s snacks/meals, and chopping/prep veggies when time allows, vacuuming once per week. Parents are looking to have another baby in the coming year so a long term commitment is preferred. Candidate must be an excellent communicator, like dogs, be okay with parents working from home, and have experience with multiple children.

Must be willing to work together with a stay at home mom and a live-in nanny to care for 4 children: 18 months, 3, 5, and 8 years old. Energetic, upbeat, happy to help with household tasks when children are busy, ability to lift 40 lbs, homework help all required. Ability to travel to Mexico and Hawaii a plus (2-4 weeks a year). Schedule: Mon: 12:30-7:30, Tues: 7:00-4:00, Wed: 7:00-2:00, Thurs: 7:00-4:00, Fri: 7:00-2:00 making it 40 hrs/wk.

Temporary Positions Available
Currently, we are looking for nannies/sitters who have an open schedule and can cover a variety of child care needs throughout Marin. You must meet the usual requirements and be available for at least 4 months. As a temp you will go to different families filling in when needed. If you like variety, have a fluid schedule and perhaps can’t commit to a full year but would still like to do nanny work, temp work might suit you. Give us a call to discuss further.
